The Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics Department offers a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering. This four-year degree program provides undergraduate students with an excellent background in each of the three main areas of aerospace engineering: (1) aerodynamics, (2) aircraft structures, and (3) flight dynamics and controls. Our program has been continually accredited since 1937, the first year of accreditation. Our students participate in a thriving hands-on curriculum, and our graduates go on to stellar careers in the aerospace industry.

The undergraduate curriculum in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics includes a four-year bachelor's degree and a five-year bachelor's and master's degrees Program. Click here for a course flow-chart.

Students entering in the bachelor's program are "calculus-ready" and can complete the degree program in four years. Naturally, students who decide to immerse themselves in additional opportunities, such as cooperative education, Air Force ROTC and Computer-Based Honors, often require additional time to complete the degree. For exceptionally talented students, the department has an honors program.

The five-year bachelor's and master's program in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics is for outstanding students to complete the requirements for both a bachelor's in aerospace engineering and an master's in either aerospace engineering or engineering science and mechanics in a five-year period. The program, part of the University Scholars Program, encourages the best undergraduate students to enroll in graduate school. The University Scholars Program allows for dual course credit. Specifically, the AEM University Scholars Program allows for six hours at the senior level (senior technical electives) to be counted toward the master's degree in either aerospace engineering or engineering science and mechanics.
